Robert M. Alderson Boone Electric Cooperative - Inducted in 2003 Bob Alderson started his cooperative career at Boone Electric Cooperative in 1966. In April of 1977 he became General Manager and continued in that position until July 2000 when he retired after 34 years of cooperative service. His tenure was characterized by active and progressive community leadership. Bob viewed his management leverage over regional infrastructure operations as an important resource for community development.
His leadership was instrumental in the passage of the Columbia/Boone Electric Cooperative Territorial Agreement - House Bill 689, which later served as a guideline for writing statewide legislation. In 1993 he received the National Food and Energy Council's Distinguished Service Award; and served as Chairman of the Legislative and Governmental Relations Committee for the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives, Director of Consumers Electric Power Association, President of Rural Missouri Essentials Services Association, Manager of the Boone County Regional Sewer District for 10 years, and Director for the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. |
