Russell J. Rosier

MFA Incorporated - Inducted in 2009

R. J. Rosier began his cooperative career as a bookkeeper at the Adrian Elevator in 1920.  He joined MFA as chief auditor in 1922.  As the first employee of the cooperative, he worked from a small office on the second floor of a downtown building.  As MFA grew, R.J. Rosier became secretary in 1929 and held that position until the time of his retirement.  In his 44 years of service, MFA's membership grew ten-fold.

 

Russell Rosier was one of the founders and incorporators of the MFA Mutual Insurance Company in 1945.  MFA pledged almost its entire net worth at the time to start this venture.  R. J. held policy number 3 until the time of his death.  He also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the company and was a member of its board of directors. 

 

Dedication, hard work, integrity, courage and leadership appear frequently in statements about Mr. Rosier.  

 

Upon Mr. Rosier's retirement, MFA presented him with a Distinguished Service Award - an award usually reserved for national figures.  He was recognized for tireless and inspiring service.  The award was given as an expression of esteem, respect, devotion and affection.
